Sutter Health, a not-for-profit healthcare system in California, is making a significant investment of $442 million in San Francisco's Mission Bernal neighborhood. This investment is part of Sutter Health's long-term vision to expand services and improve patient access to high-quality care in the city.

The investment will be used to build a new comprehensive advanced neurological and neurosurgical care complex, known as the Mission Bernal Care Complex. This five-story, 129,000-square-foot facility will provide a range of services including neurology, neurosurgery, lab, imaging, infusion, rehabilitation, and an on-site ambulatory surgery center. Patients will also have access to the latest research and clinical trials.

The Mission Bernal Care Complex will house Sutter's renowned Ray Dolby Brain Health Center and Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research and Treatment Center, allowing for better collaboration among clinicians and the opportunity to provide similar services to meet the needs of patients.

Expanded Neurological Care and Intervention Suites

In addition to the new care complex, Sutter Health plans to add two neurological intervention suites to the CPMC Mission Bernal Campus hospital by 2027. These suites will offer advanced imaging capabilities and enable fast detection and treatment of life-threatening conditions such as stroke and blood clots in the brain.

Sutter Health's commitment to expanding access to high-quality care is driven by its mission to provide exceptional, affordable care to the communities it serves. This investment in the Mission Bernal neighborhood is just one example of Sutter Health's ongoing efforts to transform healthcare and improve the lives of patients in the Bay Area.

Expanding Primary and Women's Care Services

Sutter Health also has plans to expand primary care and women's care services on the Mission Bernal Campus. The Monteagle building will be remodeled to create a modern and comfortable care environment for patients, including new space for primary care and women's OB/GYN clinics.

The investment in the Mission Bernal neighborhood is part of Sutter Health's larger growth strategy for San Francisco over the next five years. In total, Sutter Health plans to invest nearly a billion dollars in the city, with a focus on expanding access to specialty care and reducing wait times for patients.
